I Guess I'll Watch the Super Bowl

I held to my promise I made months ago.

I refused to watch a single professional football game this season as long as they included political statements on or around the field and its players.

I believe black lives matter, yes. But I also believe ALL lives matter. I refuse to be involved with playing the race card. I believe those who discriminate should be dealt with, but not through a mob mentality.

I also believe that specialized groups, such as Black Lives Matter and many, many others, on BOTH sides of the beliefs, are easily splintered into more sinister actions, which we have seen for years, not just the past presidential administration.

To back and promote individual societal views on the sport fields is appalling. I am watching football for football, not to be swayed or confirmed in my societal beliefs. When players and officials are ready to play football for the game of football, I'll watch.

The only variance is that I will watch the Super Bowl game, only because the coach of the Buccaneers, Bruce Arians, is a graduate of my alma mater, York High. If it is unfortunate that the network or the game officials promote a political or societal view, I am out of there.

Hopefully, there will be no slant view given and, hopefully, for next football season, a lot of that bull crap will have gone by the wayside.
